Overcoming the error message when opening the network manager wicd [bakctrack 5]

Wicd Network Manager is one of the default network manager application that is used to select the backtrack connection, (eg use wifi to connect, lan cable, etc.). never happened when I opened the wicd network manager I get an error message as shown below:

actually does not matter when we press ok wicd running as usual, but sometimes we feel uncomfortable if get an error message. the following countermeasures:

open a terminal and type the following command

# dpkg-reconfigure wicd
then enter the command again
# update-rc.d wicd defaults
reopen his wicd and god willing (insya Allah) the error message no longer exists.

Adjust the brightness of the screen using the command in the terminal backtrack

For Linux users, sometimes there are devices Brightness settings via the control panel or hotkey does not work. as I alamai on my backtrack linux. Then there are other alternatives to set it, here is how quickly Adjusting Brightness Through Terminal.

1. Open a terminal (CTRL + ALT + T)
2. Type the command sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=nilai , press enter.The value is the value of the strength of brightnes. The value provided is 1-99 or can be filled with BB.
Ex :   sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=BB


* if you use a value of 1 so dark, like death, it's better not to use a value of 1! !!

The command can be used to adjust the brightness of executable files through termnal. Sehngga will only execute it alone is the same run the above command. Here's how

1. Open terminal
2. type the command sudo nano brightness. (berghtness name just an example, could be another)
3. input the command, sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=BB  (must directly enter the value)
4. press Ctrl + X, then Y, fatherly store.
5. Change into an executable file, by way of sudo chmod 777 brightness. (Filename customized name above)
6. Try running, with a double-click, if the question arises, just select RUN to run.

change the hostname in the backtrack terminal's

for new users of the operating system backtrack (like me) pastii & should already know the "terminal" due to operate this system largely fed through terminal commands, sort cmd (command prompt) in windows. when opening the terminal often we see the root @, indicating that we are login / access using the root user, linux highest user has full access rights. nah never thought not to change rename root @ bt, eg so root @ me or @ my own.

if so here's how
A. Changging Hostname
1. Open terminal
2. Type

# hostname brebes-cyber
- brebes-cyber change in accordance with the host name that will be replaced

3. enter

MENGATUR BRIGHTNESS MENGGUNAKAN TERMINAL

Bagi pengguna Linux, kadang ada perangkat yang pengaturan Brightness melalui kontrol panel atau hotkey tidak jalan. seperti yang saya alamai pada linux backtrack saya. Maka ada alternatif lain untuk mengaturnya, berikut ini cara cepat Mengatur Brightness Melalui Terminal.

1. Buka terminal ( CTRL+ALT+T )

2. Ketikkan perintah sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=nilai , tekan enter.

nilai tersebut adalah nilai kekuatan dari brightnes. Nilai yang disediakan adalah 1 – 99 atau bisa di isi dengan BB.
contoh :   sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=BB

*kalau pake nilai 1 gelap sekali, seperti mati, lebih baik jangan gunakan nilai 1 ! !!

Perintah tersebuh  dapat dijadikan file executable untuk mengatur brightness melalui termnal. Sehngga nantinya hanya menjalankan file ini saja sudah sama menjalankan perintah diatas. Berikut caranya :

1. Buka terminal
2. ketikan perintahsudo nano brightness. (nama berghtness hanya contoh, bisa yang lain)
3. masukan perintah tadi, sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=BB . ( nilai harus langsung di masukkan)
4. tekan Ctrl + X , kemudian Y , unutk menyimpan.
5. Ubah menjadi file executable, dengan cara sudo chmod 777 brightness .(nama disesuaikan nama file diatas)
6. Coba jalankan, dengan klik dua kali, jika muncul pertanyaan, pilih saja RUN untuk menjalankan.

Mengatasi Pesan error ketika membuka wicd network manager [bakctrack 5]

WICD Network Manager adalah salah satu aplikasi network manager bawaan backtrack yang digunakan untuk memilih koneksi, (mis akan konek pake wi fi, kabel lan dll)

ketika saya membuka wicd network manager saya mendapatkan sebuah pesan error
seperti gambar di bawah 

sebenarnya sih tidak masalah ketika kita tekan ok wicd berjalan seperti biasa namun terkadang kita merasakan risih jika mendapatkan pesan error. nah berikut langkah mengatasinya :
buka terminal lalu ketikan perintah berikut
# dpkg-reconfigure wicd
lalu masukan perintah lagi
# update-rc.d wicd defaults
buka kembali wicd nya dan insya allah pesan error tersebut sudah tidak ada lagi.

Install OS Backtrack 5 R 2

cara install Backtrack 5 R2  :

- Insert the installation media (DVD / flash) to your PC, wait for it to look like this:

- Click enter,

- Select BackTract Text, click enter. Type startx (startx function is to start / bring up the GUI Backtrack 5 Gnome R2)

- Click Install BackTrack,

- Select English, then click Forward, wait for it to finish setting up the clock,

- Religion and Time Zone Adjust according to your wishes and then click Forward:

- Select the keyboard layout that you want. Then click Forward,

- Select Specify partitions manually (advanced), and then click forward,

- Click free space, then click Add..

- Create a partition in accordance with the existing setting is drawn up, except for size (contents according to your needs) and then click OK,

- select free space, then click Add..

- Create a partition in accordance with the existing setting is drawn up, except for size (contents according to your needs) and then click OK,

- Select the type ext4 partition, and then click Forward,

- Click Install, wait until the installation is complete.

- Click Restart Now,

- Remove / unplug / off the installation media (DVD / flash) from your PC / laptop, and click enter. So the PC / Laptop you will restart and wait until the display like this:

Fill Login with: root
and the contents of passwords with: toor
then type startx to get into dekstopnya, remove / delete the shortcut "install BackTrack" that exist on the desktop. Backtrack 5 R2 installation process is complete.
